ABOUT THESE ICONS:
Several weeks ago, I was installing a File in Program Manager
and thought that an icon of a bird would be appropriate for the
file. I started looking for one and discover that the only bird
I could find was a cardinal on a football helmet. While there are
lots of software-specific icons, there are few attractive, general
purpose icons. So, I came up with these.
Most of them were created with ICON MASTER 0.5. Some were based
on scanned images or PCX Clip Art, shrunk to size with Paint Shop
2.02 and captured by ICON MASTER, then colored and edited to
remove the jaggies in its Edit Program. Several were created in
it from star to finish.
I sincerely hope you can use them to brighten your Program Manager.
TO INSTALL ICONS IN WINDOWS:
USING A MOUSE:
1. From the Program Manager, Click the mouse once on the program of
interest.
2. Click on File.
3. Click on Properties, then Click on Change Icon,
4. Enter the full path and name of the icon into the Dialog box.
(for example: C:\windows\tree.ico)
5. Click on View Next
6. Click on Ok.
7. Click on Ok. (again)
ALTERNATIVELY, USING THE KEYBOARD:
1. Press <Ctrl-F6> to toggle to the right group, then use the cursor keys
to highlight the program in which you want to change the icon.
2. Press <Alt-F> then press <P>, then press <ALT-I>
then then enter the full path and name of the icon into the Dialog box.
3. Press <Alt-N>.
4. Press <Enter>.
5. Press <Enter>. (again)
If for some reason the icon has a smudged area at the top, just go through
the process again till you are satisified with the result.
THIRDLY, USE AN ICON UTILITY:
There are several good shareware programs available. Personally, I use ICON
MASTER, but there are also ICON MANAGER, a Norton Desktop Utility, and several
others that let you point-and-drag or use a replace control.
